Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date asset list is crucial for effective network management. By integrating UVexplorer with PRTG Network Monitor, you can double check the PRTG asset list for oddities or missing devices.
UVexplorer discovers and maps network devices, collecting detailed inventory data such as serial numbers, models, IP addresses, and software versions. UVexplorer utilizes protocols like SNMP, WMI, SSH, and Telnet to identify devices and gather pertinent information, providing a comprehensive view of your network assets. Once the discovery is complete, UVexplorer presents a detailed inventory of your network devices, including system information, serial numbers, IP/MAC addresses, installed software, and more.
To begin, launch UVexplorer and initiate a network discovery and use the ‘Export to PRTG’ feature in UVexplorer. The discovery information is compared to the current PRTG asset list during the integration’s export.
In PRTG, navigate to the ‘Devices’ section to view the imported asset list. Here, you’ll find any unmatched devices in the “New UVexplorer Devices” group. These devices have been found by UVexplorer and do not match to any current PRTG asset. The devices in this group can be moved to any current group in PRTG.
